The Basics in Pigeon Books
Pigeon books must be able to convey to the readers about the basics of buying, feeding and maintaining birds that will turn out to be winners.
The most basic thing to consider is the health of the pigeons. Birds who have suffered diseases such as salmonellosis ands other diseases must be allowed to reproduce because their offspring will automatically carry the disease that will be too hard to cure. The books should tell you what to do when your birds get sick, how to separate them from the rest of flock to prevent contamination and how to finally let go if there disease has become terribly incurable.
Another basic thing is how to properly feed the birds: what feeds to give; what supplements; the amount of food, water and supplements you should buy and give your flock; and when to give them food.
Pigeon Books on Pairing
If you want to be a really good breeder, you must be able to know when to pair and which one should be paired with which mate.
Birds should be at their optimal weight as well as at the right age when pairing; that is why it is advisable to separate the sexes to prevent premature mating. The most problems new breeders encounters are unwanted mating, which may turn into more problems. Birds that are not yet ready to be paired should be housed in different loft, or the loft should be big enough to be able to put divisions in them.
Good pigeon books should be able to tell the readers on how to make the right divisions in the loft, to give mating birds some privacy and when is the right mating season.
